Blackwater Castle is one of my all-time favourite wedding venues and I recommend it to everyone seeking something very special!
History, heritage, nature and a warm Irish welcome meet in a spectacular setting at Blackwater Castle, a twelfth Century Castle on the banks of the River Awbeg, which is surrounded by woodlands and a private river and is the perfect setting for a unique Irish Castle wedding. Visitors gracing the Castle down through the centuries include the third century blind magician Mogh Ruith, Strongbow’s Men at Arms, Sir Walter Raleigh, and the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson.
Oliver Cromwell and his army also laid siege to the Castle so why not follow in the footsteps of some of the most famous and infamous figures from the past and celebrate your union in a unique setting?
This “charming historic location” which is steeped in history is a hidden gem tucked away in the hills of North Cork and is just “perfect for a private wedding”. We have also been selected among the Best Wedding Venues in Ireland for four consecutive years since 2014 and in the top 20 Castle Wedding Venues in Ireland while Tanya Sweeney writing in The Irish Examiner 0n 6th May 2015 claimed that Blackwater Castle was one of only 6 wedding venues that you would ever need in your wedding venue little black book.
